Saint Francis Catholic Secondary School

Library Information Centre

Our school library is a hub of activity. Students drop in to study, read magazines, newspapers or books and to do research. Some other activities include our puzzle group and chess players. Our collection grows each year, as do our online resources.

New non-fiction additions to the library include two handsome sets of encyclopedias on alternative energy sources, six colourful volumes on the contributions of Canada’s Prime Ministers, and we’ve added several volumes from the Understanding Literature section to compliment the existing authors already covered. The written version of Al Gore’s, An Inconvenient Truth has been purchased as well. This is an absolutely beautiful hard cover book, filled with excellent illustrations and text that is readable in an evening.

Galegroup, our online research site continues to be available and is a favourite with our students. You can find it at http://infotrac.galegroup.com either at school or at home. Username and Password are stfran.

Any parent who would like to see our collection is welcome to drop in and visit during school hours. When we speak with book suppliers we are always careful to explain that we are a Catholic Secondary School and they often have suggestions of what is appropriate and what other Catholic Schools are purchasing.
